ITI SYSTEMS EVALUATION

The Equus Beds Groundwater Management District No. 2 (GMD2) is partnering with the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Conservation (KDA-DOC) to improve irrigation efficiency for producers by offering the Irrigation Technology Initiative (ITI). The program provides producers with opportunities to evaluate and implement irrigation technologies and management practices that can improve water-use efficiency while supporting long-term groundwater conservation.
 

Irrigation System Evaluations

GMD2 irrigators seeking to enhance water use efficiency can receive a professional evaluation of their irrigation systems at no cost. These evaluations will be conducted by Certified Irrigation Specialists and will identify opportunities to conserve water and optimize system performance.

Cost -Share Assistance

Following a completed evaluation, producers many qualify for funding to implement the recommended water conservation improvements. This includes:

• Adoption of best managment practices (BMPs)

• Installation of conservation equipment
   

Funding Details:

• Up to $7,500 per irrigation system for the following equipment and the best management practices available include:

  • Sprinkler System, System Renovation, Re-nozzle with Drops

  • Water Meter Monitoring Sofware Subscriptions

  • Telemetry packages that can include soil moisture probes as part of the system

  • Pumping System & Air Line Water Depth Measurement System Components

  • Other innovation irrigation technology systems as approved by KDA/DOC in consultation with GMD2 and the Kansas Water Office.

• Maximum of $15,00 per entity per year​​
